The Project, which is being implemented by Development Initiatives Network (DIN), aims to promote greater transparency and accountability in fulfilling commitments to the advancement of women's rights by analyzing the gender impacts of government expenditure.
Project activities will take place across the five administrative divisions of Lagos State, that is, Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos and Epe ('IBILE'). The key actions are gender budget analysis, budget policy research, training, information dissemination, advocacy, and mobilizing support for policy and administrative reforms.
The main target groups are women and their advocates or representatives such as NGOs and other community groups. The duration of the project is 24 months commencing from 1 April 2006. It is being implemented in cooperation with the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget and with the support of the European Union (EU) and the Department for International Development, (DFID).
